What our guests say…
“This cottage is very well equipped house which has all that a family would require for a very comfortable stay. The local food shop in Kilchoan is 30 minutes away fort William about 1:20 and there is a good Co-op on in Tobermory. As wildlife enthusiasts the added attraction of Pine Martins, Red deer in the garden was a very big draw and they did not disappoint. We saw the pine Martins on 4 nights and the deer on 4 occasions during the day casually in the garden. Easy access to Mull via the ferry from Kilchoan and to plenty of local walking this for us was a perfect house in a great location.”
Just wanted to say thanks and to let you know that we all enjoyed staying at the wonderful Loch View cottage – Didn’t want to leave if truth be told as its such a lovely place and location. I have attached a list of the birds and mammals seen (and heard) from the cottage and its garden for your reference. The pine marten visited regularly but was only seen well one evening by the family at the window; rest of the time it was only myself that saw it in various locations near the cottage as i am generally up early roaming the boundaries and “island” in front of the cottage.
“For wildlife enthusiasts or photographers it’s a great base. The cottage is well equipped. Kitchen fully functional, bedrooms comfortable and an open lounge. Gardens reach the loch and part are tidal channels. Pine Marten visited every day, from morning throughout the night. Sit and watch from the lounge or set up cameras and take some shots. Otters appears randomly along the coast so keep a sharp eye. A short drive north west and you’re in the hills, white tailed and golden eagle can been seen cruising up high. Kilchoan offers regular ferry services to Mull. There’s so much beautiful scenery you’ll be spoilt for choice. Roads are very narrow so speeds are low. If you want to enjoy Ardamurchan this cottage affords a great base.”
Just to say we had a really marvellous stay at Loch View this past week. We loved the cottage and its situation by the river and with high tide by chance being early morning and early evening throughout our week we were able to kayak virtually right up to the door twice daily if we wished, which was fantastic. The mirror-flat calm of most mornings on Loch Sunart and visiting the islands was a kayakers dream and we encountered seals, otters, deer and saw eagles also. We will be back again at some point.
Just arrived home from a winter break at Loch View Cottage. It is a fantastic base for travelling around Ardnamurchan and area. The cottage is very clean and well equipped , this is our 2nd visit and defiantly won’t be our last . If you love peace, tranquillity, wildlife, photography then this is the PERFECT cottage for you. Do not forget your binoculars, we were watching dolphins/porpoise swimming in the loch from the very large front window, we saw 2 otters running up the grass next to the burn that runs next to the cottage (didn’t need binoculars for that) so close we couldn’t believe our luck. The resident pine martins did not disappoint us showing themselves not only in the evening but sometimes through the day good tip (take crunchy peanut butter and raspberry jam).
